First day of school…

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

Today is Liam’s first day of school.

With my gimp leg I couldn’t walk him in — so my mom came and took pictures, and took him to school for me.

Liam was crying this morning, he told me “I don’t want to be 4 forever”, I told him it would only be 42 days until his Birthday (Oct 12). That didn’t help matters much. 42 days to him might as well be 420. What is strange to me is that 42 days in my life might as well be 42 hours.

What’s been stealing all my time? Age? Experience? Ugh. At least World Cup Hockey is here — at least I can drown my sorrows in Molson and USA Hockey.

Mom took some pictures of us before he left for school, I’ll post them soon.

What a morning. Lots of mixed emotions.

Stuck at home….

So the ankle has a 60% chance of avoiding surgery. The wrong bump or fall and I’ll be under the knife.

What that boils down to is that I won’t be leaving the house for the next month. Ugggghhhhh…

How did it happen? I was playing soccer with Liam (my son) and a few of his friends. There was a birthday party going on in our yard, so I took the soccer game behind the garage to lessen the chance the little kids would get hurt. Liam was trying to get Simon to do something, so he didn’t see me break my ankle.

I was trying to kick the ball, but my foot landed on top. I’m not sure what exactly happened, but I heard a snap crackle pop…I found myself rolling on the ground. I tried to stand up, thinking “I’ll just walk it off….”

Broke my ankle in two places. Looks like it won’t require surgery.

More later.

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we,” Bush said.

You have to wonder if these are planned…
